Center for Christian Education in Ixil Nebaj's office was a small building at the edge of the city. We (Wycliffe translators, Ixil translators, linguistic specialists) used this office for our translation and literary work. It was also the place that the New Testaments were kept so someone could come after June 10,2009 and buy a Bible in their own Ixil language . Much other literature was developed here both for children and adults. All centered around the Bible but were contexualized (made to fit into their particular culture with photos and wording that reflected their culture. I facilitated literacy classes, training of promoters, making contextualized videos, music in Ixil, translation of texts for use in bilingual classes, and other Scripture Use activities. These programs originated from CECI (Center of Christian Education in Ixil) with centers in Nebaj and the village of Salquil Grande. I spent many hours at the CECI office. Click on image to enlarge.

Here is where the people came who wanted to buy the New Testament Translation in their own language. The cost was minimal but showed that the person really wanted it.
